Caring for Widows and Orphans Organization

About Us

Our Objectives

At Caring for Widows and Orphans Organization, our goal is to empower orphans, widows, and elderly individuals with special needs in the community. Established in January 2018 at the Kakuma refugee camp, Turkana West, CWOO was founded by compassionate individuals dedicated to improving the quality of life for those in need. By addressing the connection between gender and climate change, we transform the lives of women and adolescent girls through vocational training in tailoring, dressmaking, computer skills, and counselling, preparing them for sustainable futures. Our ultimate aim is to foster personal growth, resilience, and community development.

What our donors say
"Caring For Widows and Orphans is an organization focused on educating and empowering women and children in East African refugee camps. After meeting the team and witnessing their impactful work, I've been privileged to support them. Their initiatives, from teaching computer literacy to promoting small farming and providing sports programs, bring professionalism, joy, and purpose to those they serve."

Humanitarian Causes

We are dedicated to supporting widows in the Kakuma Refugee Camp by addressing their most pressing needs. We provide them with essential food supplies and clothing, ensuring their well-being and dignity.

For orphans in the Kakuma Refugee Camp, we go beyond basic needs by providing food, clothing, and shelter. Our commitment extends to securing their future and enhancing their development.

We establish educational centers for orphans and widows. They receive comprehensive education in language training, computer science, and dressmaking, empowering them with vital skills for a brighter, self-sufficient future

Mission and Vision

Our Mission is to empower widows and orphans through vocational training and essential livelihood skills. We help women and adolescent girls achieve economic independence with programs in tailoring, dressmaking, computer literacy, smartphone usage, and counseling. By providing a supportive environment, we equip them to build sustainable futures and become self-reliant, creating lasting change in their lives and communities.
Women learning tailoring
Our Vision is to empower vulnerable women to achieve independence and contribute to society. We aim to help women develop their natural abilities, excel in their workplaces and communities, and realize their full potential. By harnessing the economic power of women and their communities, we inspire them to become more economically active and personally fulfilled.
